Table bows are an easy way to add color and style to head tables at special events like weddings and banquets. While you can pay someone to decorate your tables and chairs for you, you can make your own table bows for less. Avoid the hassle of trying to match pre-made table bows to the colors for your event by purchasing ribbon that matches exactly and then learning how to tie table bows from that ribbon. All it takes is a few simple steps and youll have table bows ready to adorn the head table at your upcoming event.
Instructions
- 1
Look for a color of 9-inch-wide organza ribbon that complements the color scheme for your wedding or event. Cut the ribbon to measure two sections that are each 3 yards long.
2Find the middle of one piece of ribbon and pinch it with your finger. Imagine that the ribbon is a huge shoelace and you are tying a knot in it to make a bow out of the ribbon. Form a loop on the right side of the pinched fabric. Hold the loop between your index finger and thumb.
3Let go of the middle of the ribbon and use your left hand to loop the left side of the ribbon over your right thumb and the base of the loop you just created. Gently pull the ribbon through the hole to create a second loop and the other half of your bow.
4Pull on the right and left loops gently to adjust the size and shape of the bow until you are pleased with how it looks.
5Loop the second piece of ribbon over the center of the bow that you just created. Make a basic knot around the center of the bow and pull the ends until they are even to create tails for the bow.
6Place a pew clip on the center front edge of the table that you want to decorate. Thread a piece of floral wire around the center of the bow and through the small holes on the top of the pew clip to secure the bow to the table. Repeat steps for additional table bows as needed.
