How to Create Your Own Placecard Holders

How to Create Your Own Placecard Holders

You can reduce the cost of planning a large event by attending to the smaller details yourself, such as creating the place card holders. Place cards may seem like negligible items but they help guests feel special as they settle down in the spot reserved for them. Place card holders add a decorative touch and ensure that the cards are stable and visible. Let your imagination flow and create a place card holder that is beautiful and meaningful for the event.

Instructions

Photo Frame Place Card Holder

    1

Open Microsoft Word. Click "Tools" on the navigation bar and select "Envelopes and Labels." Select the "Labels" tab and click the "Options" button. Click "New Label" in the dialog box that appears.

    2

Enter "2.5" in the "Label Height" field and "1.75" in the "Label Width" field. Type "4" in the "Number Across" and "Number Down" fields. Click "OK" in the "New Custom Laser" window and in the "Label Options" window. Click the "New Document" button in the "Envelopes and Labels" window.

    3

Click "Edit" on the navigation bar and choose "Select All." Click the down arrow beside the "Outside Border" icon on the tool bar and choose the "All Borders Icon." The outside border icon is usually the second icon to the left of the font color icon, which is marked with "A."

    4

Choose a font from the font list on the tool bar and select a size for the font from the font-size field. For instance, you can choose "Blackadder" at 48 points. You may also change the color of the font with the font color icon. Click each cell on the page and type the name of each guest.

    5

Insert a sheet of card stock paper in the printer and print the list. Use the cell lines on the sheet as a guide to cut out each guest's name.

    6

Remove the back of a photo frame and insert a guest name. Replace the back. Place each photo frame in front of the seat reserved for the respective guest.

Wine Cork Place Card Holder

    7

Stand a wine cork on one end. Use a knife to slice some of the cork from one side, enough to make that side flat.

    8

Place the cork down on its flat side to ensure that it is flat.

    9

Make a long slit in the cork from one end to the other with a serrated knife. Insert a place card in the slit.

Living Place Card Holder

    10

Pour potting soil in each plant pot and plant a seed. Cover the top layer of soil with moss. You can make the pot more special if you plant seeds of flowers that each guest is partial to.

    11

Cut out various shapes from a sheet of cardstock paper. You could cut out stars, hearts and flowers. Write the names of your guests on these shapes.

    12

Dab a small amount of glue on the back of a place card and stick it to the top of a craft stick. Wait for the glue to dry. Repeat this step for other place cards.

    13

Insert the bottom of the craft stick into the plant pot. If you prepare the pots several weeks ahead of the event, there will be enough time for the seeds to sprout.
