Wedding Cocktail Table Setting Ideas

Wedding Cocktail Table Setting Ideas

The table settings at your wedding should represent you as a couple and the overall feeling you want guests to have from the moment they arrive at the event. Therefore, in order to create the most fitting table setting for your special day, you may first want to consider a few things like whether your wedding is elegant or casual, indoor or outdoor and how much you want to spend on the settings. Your cocktail tables should complement the tables that your guests will be sitting at once the wedding begins.

Elegant

If your wedding can be considered more of an elegant affair, you will want to pick out linens to cover your cocktail tables. Most venues offer standard colored linens, but if you would prefer something else to fit your color scheme, you can usually rent them from another company. Have the linens match or complement the colors picked for the dining tables. Cocktail napkins can be passed out by servers or placed on each table. If you want, consider having personalized cocktail napkins made.

Simplistic

To keep your cocktail table looking nice, but simple, pick one or two things you would like to include in the overall look. Depending on the venue, maybe you feel strongly about having the tables covered with linens and just a candle. Perhaps you would rather have linens and a small vase including one or two blooms that play prominently in your other centerpieces.

Outdoor

If your wedding is taking place outdoors, keeping your table settings simple can go a long way. Whether you are getting married on a beach, in a garden or on a farm, chances are you will already be surrounded by beautiful scenery. Tie in colors from the location when creating the look of your table. Keep any flower arrangements minimal. If you will be using candles, keep them short and in containers that won't let the flames easily blow out. For casual weddings, skip the fancy linens and instead use tables that go along with the outdoor feel like untreated wood for a barn wedding and bamboo or white tables for a beach wedding.

Vases

Vases don't have to only carry flowers. If flowers are simply not your thing, try filling tall, plain, glass vases with one type of fruit like green pears, oranges or lemons. Pick colors that complement your wedding colors or time of year. Shorter vases can also be filled with colored stones or marbles, water and floating candles on the top. If you are having a beach wedding, fill a small glass bowl with sand, seashells, beach stones and a starfish. All of these options are fairly inexpensive, easy to do and memorable.

Unique

If you are looking for something different for your cocktail tables, there are several options you can consider. For a winter wedding, branches illuminated by lights are a fitting touch. To add a touch of green, bamboo plants in small vases can add some dimension to the tables. Picture frames displaying photos of you and your spouse through the years can be a sentimental and fun way to get your guests walking around and mingling during the cocktail hour. Another option is to leave markers and pages out of a wedding guest book for your guests on each table. This way they won't miss the guest book and can take their time writing meaningful messages. Just be sure they are collected at the end of the cocktail hour.
