Welcome guests to dinner with miniature wedding cakes, sweetly placed in the center of each table. Not only will the mini confections make beautiful centerpieces as guests dine, when it comes time for dessert, each table gets to cut into their own. Add table numbers to the tops of each cake and these centerpieces do double duty as desserts and table markers.
Instructions
- 1
Purchase enough single layer cakes to allow for one on each table. Ask a professional baker to ice the cakes in your wedding colors and add decorative touches. For the dollar-conscious bride, purchase ready-made cakes from a grocery store bakery or make the desserts yourself.
2Deliver the cakes to your reception site the day before or day of your event and store them in the refrigerator.
3After the linens have been placed on your reception tables, ask friends or a wedding coordinator to decorate the center of each table with tulle, fabric and flower petals. Place a cake plate or pedestal in the center of each table, atop the decorative fabric.
4Ask your wedding coordinator to set each place card holder with its table number beside the cake plate the day before your event.
5Instruct reception staff to place one cake on each platter or pedestal and top with place card and table number a few hours before the guests arrive.
