Traditional Decorating with New Flat-Screen Televisions

Getting a new flat-screen television doesn't mean a big, black rectangle must be inserted into your traditional decor. Whether you choose to hide your TV, disguise it, or accessorize with it, a flat-panel TV can be incorporated into your room. Does this Spark an idea?

Furniture

Don't throw out your TV armoire just because you're getting rid of your bulky old TV -- your new flat-screen TV may fit in the armoire just as well, providing the perfect disguise for your television.

If the fit isn't right, try a wall cabinet made for flat-screen TVs that goes well with your decor.

Clever Disguises

Disguise your flat-screen TV to make it vanish into your traditional decor. Products are available that hide your flat-screen TV behind retractable artwork, turn it into a mirror, or operate mechanically to make it disappear inside furniture pieces when it's not in use.

Accessorize

Flat-screen TVs are so much a part of the modern household that they've become almost expected. If you don't want to bother with hiding or disguising your flat-screen TV, just use it as an accessory. Hang it above the mantel or on a wall in place of the traditional mirror, or place it on a cabinet or bureau and add a vase or candlesticks on either side.
