Offering escort cards to guests at your wedding reception allows them to find their table assignment easily. Although basic tented cards work, they dont add much to your reception decor. Instead, get creative and make an escort card tree to display your guests table numbers while adding an extra decoration to the front of your reception venue. You can coordinate the colors and style of your escort card tree with your wedding theme, but consider adding some embellishments to make your tree sparkle.
Instructions
Escort Card Tree
- 1
Choose multiple sizes of ceramic flowerpots. Paint them or drape them in a fabric that matches your reception dcor. The flowerpots serve as the base of your escort card tree.
2Cut floral foam so that it fits inside each flowerpot. You should not be able to see the foam when you look at the pot, so keep it at least 1 to 2 inches below the rim.
3Stick faux branches, found at most craft stores, into the floral foam. Choose branches of varying heights, ranging from 12 inches to 24 inches. The more branches you use, the more escort cards you can fit on the tree.
4Arrange the branches to resemble a tree. You want to place large branches next to small ones so that you can evenly disperse the cards.
Escort Cards
- 5
Use word-processing software like Microsoft Word to create square escort cards that are about 3 inches by 3 inches in size.
6Type each guests name on the escort card, along with the table number. Group couples together on one card, such as Mr. and Mrs. John Doe. You can list the table numbers underneath the guests' names.
7Print on card stock. Choose white for a classic escort card, or select one of your wedding colors. Cut the cards to size.
8Punch a hole in the top of each escort card, and loop and tie a ribbon through the hole. Again, choose a ribbon that complements your decor and the colors of the cards and flowerpots.
9Hang the escort cards on the faux branches. Organize the cards alphabetically to make it easier for guests to find their cards.
