DIY Name Card Holder

DIY Name Card Holder

For your next party, impress your guests with your ability to be eco-friendly and stylish all at the same time. Make name card holders for your dinner party table using the corks from old bottles of champagne. This project is also suitable for wine corks, though champagne corks tend to be larger and sturdier. Use this upcycled craft project for all of your events and your guests will want to copy your green style every time. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Gather one champagne cork for each guest who will attend your party or event. Ask friends and relatives to save their corks or even solicit leftover corks from a local party hall or catering company.

    2

Use a sharp knife to cut a slit horizontally across the top of each cork. Cut across the writing on the cork's widest part and angle each cut toward the back slightly. The depth of the cut will depend on the size of cards you use, but in general you will need 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in depth.

    3

Write each guest's name on a rectangle of heavy cardstock or other decorative, sturdy paper. If you don't have neat handwriting, use your computer and printer to print out the names using a decorative font.

    4

Slide the place cards into the slits you cut in the wine corks. Place one place card holder at each place setting at your dinner table.
